Step into a celebration of education and culture at our Rock Creek Run 5K! Join us, and our Olympic runner, Marielle Hall for a family day event dedicated to supporting education through our 5K run/walk. The race course takes you through the scenic Rock Creek Park, offering a flat and family-friendly 5K loop.

We're proud to announce that all proceeds from this event will support the D.C Pearls III Foundation scholarship program. Get ready for a day filled with activities like a children's dash, lawn games, food trucks, and a chance to meet our Olympian Marielle Hall. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned athlete, come join us in making a positive impact on education.

We're not just running, we're celebrating! We encourage all runners and walkers to come dressed in their HBCU pride gear or your Greek paraphernalia as we gather to support the educational dreams of our community. This event is extra special as we come together to celebrate Debutante Jessica Lucas on her journey to college in the fall.

Meet Jessica C. Lucas

She’s an energetic, high-achieving honor student at St. John’s College HS. Her positive attitude and engaging personality are responsible for her many successful endeavors and awards in school, at home and in her community. Jessica is full of new ideas, creative, imaginative and compelling. She draws others to her projects and seeks to gain their support for humanitarian community work.

Future Leader

Jessica’s amazing talents and keen insights, help motivate and inform her achievements. Above all, she is compassionate and unselfish in her endeavors. She is currently part of a leadership development program for young ladies seeking to become educated, informed cultural and socially sophisticated debutantes. She is challenged to initiate fundraising projects in the community to help also with funding for her college tuition. Her faith, enthusiasm, and commitment to excellence will always shine through her work and relationships in the community.

More About Jessica

Community Volunteer and Entrepreneur

Jessica has been a volunteer since her earliest years, helping provide services to the homeless and underserved citizens in DC programs, as well as through her church as an acolyte, and through Girl Scouts of America. Perhaps her earliest entrepreneurial success is Jessica’s own babysitting business (started nine years ago) for which she has an official Certification in First Aid and Babysitting from the American Red Cross.

Youth Advocate and Career in Psychology

Jessica has a deep calling and motivation to work with youth, particularly those with mental and psychological health disparities. She wants to be an advocate and help increase resources for mentally challenged youth. In anticipation of a career in psychology, Jessica was accepted and received a certificate of successful completion at the UCLA Cognitive and Criminal Psychology Program for pre-college students prior to her junior year of high school. Last summer, she was accepted in an early college program at Spelman College, Atlanta, Ga., with a concentration in English, which explored critical thinking, persuasive writing and teamwork for which she received a grade of “A” and college credits.

Student-Athlete

In addition to the above achievements, Jessica has been a dynamic student athlete, winning numerous individual and team awards in swimming, basketball and varsity volleyball. Jessica also coaches volleyball. Over her young career, she has managed to combine her athletic abilities with fundraising and community activities at her schools. Jess can do it all!

March 10 - 5K Run/Walk
